The biotype 'wormbase' in gene and transcript tables has been updated to 'protein_coding' to follow the standard biotypes for Ensembl species.
The compara orthology build has been updated to include the new Opossum genome, and chimp dnafrag names have been changed to take account of the re-numbering of the Chimp chromosomes (see Chimp news for more information).

All variation databases now include the new consequence_type 'REGULATORY_REGION'.
Features which have accompanying Gene locations, e.g. some AffyProbes, now display a table of gene names and descriptions at the top of the view page. See an example....

The data on this site is a direct import of the
Wormbase 140 dataset. No additional genebuild was carried out, but a
series of blast runs was done to provide ESTs, Swall hits, and other similarity
data.
We have included C.elegans into the Ensembl system to allow people to access the data through the Ensembl user interface (both for visualisation and data mining) and to provide cross-species integration throught our comparative genomics resources (such as homologous gene links and protein family/domain pages).
The canonical data for C. elegans is managed at Wormbase.
